On Beniaskie! & the surrounding area there is a lot to discover & explore. Here is just a small selection:
Boats travel over the hills here, from Iława or Ostróda to Elbląg on the Vistula Lagoon. Start: Buczyniec: Museum & monument to the builder, Georg Jacob Steenke.
The provincial capital of Warmia-Masuria: with a fine old town, castle, planetarium & astronomical observatory as well as many lakes. And relaxed canoe tours on Łyna River.
.
Around Beniaskie!, there are many tours on foot or on our bikes; it's impossible not to cross deep forests, marvel at old manor houses or stop for a swim at great lakes. All tours available on Komoot App.
The border river between Warmia and Prusy
Górne. Kayak tours to the Vistula Lagoon, watch beavers in their lairs, or simply put your hooves in the river, e.g. at the rapids near Beniaskie!
A mere 60 km and you are at the sea. Meet the Emperor (Kadyny) and Copernicus (Frombork) on the banks of the lagoon. Continue by boat across the lagoon to the spit: go amber-hunting on the beach, or to the end of the (EU) world...
Lake Beniaskie is regularly stocked by the Polish Angling Association PZW. Pike, tench or catfish are usually netted, or sometimes nothing at all. A fishing license is required - easy to order and valid for many lakes in the area.
In the beautiful old town and the old warehouses on River Motlawa, you can feel the Hanseatic past at every turn. Be sure to climb the 402 steps of St. Mary's Church and look out over the city and bay.
An unparalleled historical document, shocking and impressive, and the site of the failed assassination attempt by Count von Staufenberg on July 20, 1944. Good to combine with a trip to the great lakes in Masuria.
The world's largest castle was the seat of the Grand Masters of the Teutonic Order and is also the largest brick building in Europe. There is also plenty of brick elsewhere: the town hall, railroad station, water tower, post office and the two city gates.
The unique and famous SPA under the open sky in the middle of the birch forest: Jacuzzi in the rock, herbal bath in birch & nettle, zeolite mineral bath, physio-massages, from Beniaskie! only a short bike ride through fields & forests.
After the Camp SPA, directly pass by the Niwa: creative, fresh cuisine from-farm-to-fork. Only their own & regional products deliciously prepared and enjoyed with a view over the hilly expanse of the Oberland.
All this and much more contains our Explorer's Handbook -
